Keelie’s story
I lost my beautiful mum when I was just 17, she passed away one day unexpectedly in her sleep.
I’m now almost 21 & since then I have tried to navigate life without her, but it’s been even harder doing it without any warning that this was something I’d experience at such a young age.
My biggest piece of advice for people on the outside looking in, don’t feel awkward when a bereaved child mentions their parent. If they have brought something like a memory or a worry up to you, they trust you & they feel comfortable enough with you to talk about something that means so much to them.
My advice to people going through the same thing as me is you don’t have to know what you’re doing, you also don’t have to hide how you’re feeling. If people can’t understand that you can’t control your feelings no matter where you are, they should count themselves lucky that they don’t get it.
Remember it’s ok not to be ok & there is always someone to talk to. You aren’t alone 💙
