Tulsi’s internship

What interested you in the internship at It’s Time?

The internship allowed me to gain experience in a range of areas which really appealed to me. These being: policy, research, social media and more generally the charity sector.  Since I am not entirely sure what I want my career to look like after university this was an excellent way to find out what work I enjoy most. Also, after speaking to Mikhail in my interview he made it clear that I was able to follow my interests and share my own ideas for projects I wanted to work on, which sounded great!

What was your role?

  • Conducting research using a useful guide put together by Mikhail

  • Connecting with my university to improve their bereavement support

  • Creating social media posts

What did you get up to?

Most of my time was spent researching and gathering information about how the UK deals with young adults bereaved of a parent. I used Canva to create social media posts, a tik tok video and present my research findings. I also got in touch with UCL (my university) to add It’s Time to their bereavement page and to arrange for leaflets to be displayed at the welcome fair.

What will you take away from the experience?

Being part of such a friendly, welcoming, and supportive team made my internship really enjoyable! I had the opportunity to gain skills which will be invaluable for the future, such as completing policy research and using Canva to display my findings. I will certainly be taking these skills forwards. Finally, a BIG thankyou to Libby for being so supportive and always being on hand for any questions I had.

What will you do after this?

I am planning to go on a trip around Europe before starting my final year of university. I hope to return to It’s Time and support future projects!
